What a managed property actually needs

  • Connected before the keys change hands

    The connection is ordered against the property and the tenancy date, not left for a tenant to sort out in their first week. Getting a line installed can take longer than people expect, so the earlier a property comes to us the less likely it is to matter.

  • One contact, not an 0800 queue

    Your team deals with us directly. We provision and manage the connections ourselves, so ordering, changes and moves between tenants are ours to action — and when a fault sits with the network operator, we do the chasing, which is the part that eats an afternoon.

  • Mesh wifi sized to the property

    TP-Link Deco X10 and X50 in one, two and three-unit packs, so a studio apartment and a three-level villa each get what they need. Wifi that reaches the back bedroom is most of what a tenant means by "good internet".

  • Managed wireless where mesh won't do

    For larger or awkward properties, business-grade wireless equipment that we manage rather than hand over in a box. Thick walls, long buildings and multiple units are where consumer kit quietly gives up.

  • Commercial buildings too

    Business and enterprise-grade networking and wireless for commercial tenancies, with the option to have us run it as a managed service rather than leaving it to whoever moves in.

Two ways to cover a property

A Deco pack, or wireless we manage

Most rentals are well covered by a TP-Link Deco mesh — X10 or X50, in one, two or three-unit packs, chosen for the size and layout of the place rather than sent out as a standard box.

Where that is not enough — a large or multi-level property, thick walls, a block of units, or any commercial tenancy — we use business-grade wireless and networking equipment and manage it ourselves, so nobody inherits a device they are expected to understand.

Common questions

How early should we tell you about a property?
As early as you can. If a place has never had a connection, or the previous one was disconnected, the install timeframe is usually the thing that surprises people rather than the price — and it depends on the address and what is already in the ground. A property given to us at the point the tenancy is signed is in much better shape than one given to us on moving day.
Do you deal with us or with the tenant?
Both arrangements are common and we can work either way. Some agencies want everything to come through them; others would rather we talk to the tenant directly once the connection is live. Tell us which you prefer and we will set it up that way.
The property already has a connection. Is that a problem?
No. Depending on what is there and who it is with, it can often be taken over rather than replaced. We will tell you honestly whether that is worth doing or whether starting again is simpler.
Mesh or managed wireless — how do we choose?
Mostly it is the building, not the budget. A single-level apartment is well served by a Deco pack; a big multi-level house, a block of units or anything with thick walls and long runs is where business-grade wireless starts to earn its place. Tell us the property and we will say which we would put in.
Do you do commercial as well as residential?
Yes. Commercial tenancies get business or enterprise-grade networking and wireless, and we can run it as a managed service so the incoming tenant is not inheriting equipment nobody understands.
Where do you cover?
We are on the ground in Auckland, Taranaki and Wellington, and support properties remotely throughout New Zealand. What can actually be delivered at a given address depends on the network in that street, which we will check for you.
