Privacy policy
Last updated 11 August 2026
ONE COMET LIMITED, trading as ONECOMET ("ONECOMET", "we", "us") provides IT and telecommunications services to New Zealand businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles.
What we collect
We collect only what we need in order to provide and support your services. Depending on your relationship with us, that may include:
- Contact details — name, business name, email address, phone number
- Service and account information, including addresses where services are installed
- Billing information. Card details are handled by our payment providers and are not stored by us
- Technical information needed to deliver and troubleshoot services
- Records of your contact with us, including support tickets and enquiries
- For website enquiries: the information you type into the form, plus the IP address the enquiry came from and your browser's user agent
Why we collect it
To provide services you have asked for, to support and maintain them, to bill you, to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, and to respond when you contact us.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use enquiry details for unrelated marketing.
Website enquiries
When you submit the contact form, we store your enquiry in our systems and email it to the relevant team. We record the IP address the submission came from, which we use to prevent automated abuse of the form.
An IP address can be personal information under the Privacy Act, so we treat it accordingly and keep it only as long as the enquiry itself.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as the law requires.
Website enquiries are automatically deleted 24 months after they are submitted. Customer account records are kept for as long as you are a customer, and afterwards for the period required by tax and company law.
Measuring how the site is used
If you agree, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use this website — which pages are useful, and where people get stuck. Clarity records how pages are used in your browser: the pages you visit, where you click and scroll, and details about your device and browser. It does not record what you type into forms.
We ask before turning this on, and nothing is collected until you agree. If you say no, or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, no analytics run at all — the software is not even loaded. You can change your mind at any time using the link in the footer.
Clarity is a Microsoft service, so this information is processed by Microsoft and stored on their servers outside New Zealand. Microsoft handles it under their own privacy terms.
None of this is needed for the site to work, and refusing it changes nothing about the service you receive.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is necessary to deliver your services — for example with network operators to provision a connection, or with our payment providers to process a payment. Those providers handle your information under their own obligations.
We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. If we ever experience a privacy breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the affected people and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within the timeframes the Privacy Act sets.
There is no charge for making a request.
Contacting us, and complaints
To ask about this policy, request a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or make a complaint, contact our Privacy Officer using the contact form on this website, or call us on 04 555 1500.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
